“In response to the parent who feels that ESL students may be holding others back, I understand the concern. However, it's not only the children whose 2nd language is English that may need remedial work. In my neighborhood, there is a diverse group of children who appear to need more remedial work because they are significantly behind and these are the not the ESL children. Parents need to be more involved than ever in the education of their children because of the reality of budgetary constraints on schools. The best thing a parent can do to help prepare a child for the real world is instill a love of learning. If children can learn to love reading early, or love to do math early, they will not be held back by any peers because they'll be able to drive themselves to learn at their own pace. Summerfield's scores are actually higher.”

“This school spends such an inordinate amount of time doing remedial work for students who do not speak English as their first language, that on-level students are held back. This is completely unacceptable, and the administrators are completely unresponsive to these concerns. It's no surprise that this school scores only five out of ten based on standardized testing.”

“I have been very happy with Summerfield Elementary. No school is perfect, but Summerfield works hard to make the kids happy. The administration is always been available to speak with, and they know most every child by name. The teachers have given my daughter their knowledge and attention. Every staff member I have come in contact with has given me the up most respect. I am glad my daughter is part of this school.”

“After reading the reviews of other parents I am appauled as to their remarks. They obviously didn't get to know the staff, teachers, administration and other students at Summerfield. I have two children both of which attend Summerfield and I would have no reservation in recommending this school to another parent. They strive to reach our children not just academically but as a whole child. Every school has their faults but the great things that Summerfield staff do, far surpasses any fault they may have ever had. I think if the parents with the poor comments took the time to partcipate in their child's education instead of dropping off the responsibility at the sidewalk, they would see all the wonderful things that Summerfield offers their students. They are truly caring professionals that strive to give our children the education they deserve.”

“I have had two children attend this school, I must say I am very impressed with everyones goal to serve these chilren, not just acamically but as a whole. I would never hesitate to recommed this school to another parent. We as parents must be involved to make our childrens education everyones goal. You can't expect to just drop your kids off every day and not work with the school to acheive the best education for your child. Public schools have their limitations, they have to work with what they are given, Summerfield staff strive to give our children the education that they deserve.”

“Summerfield deserves kudos for the safe and caring environment they provide for our children. My son is in Kindergarten and his teacher has made him feel comfortable and made me feel at ease to know I am leaving my child with her. I am confident he will have a positive first experience in Elementary School. The office staff has been courteous. The administration dressed up as their school mascot on the first day of school and the children and staff seemed so excited about that. I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store.”

“I feel the administration get an 'F' for leadership. The Principal needed to be more hands on with all areas of the school. Communication between the school and parents was extremely poor. Communication between administration and teachers was equally bad. This school is in desperate need of a new Principal.”

“Summerfield has undergone a great change in the last year. There is no school that is perfect, but at Summerfield the teachers are excited, our grades are up, the kids are happy. Yes, my children attend a title-one (lower income), overcrowded school, but I know their teachers care about them and they are happy there.”

“Unfortunaly it't hard to said , but summerfield school its one of the worst and uncompetitive school in this area , i really dont know what the county can do , but this needs to be done. Its our kids development in their hands. Please staff try to do more for those kids. Thanks mother of 1st grade and 5th grade.”

“This is one of the worst schools I have had to send my child to. The parent/teacher interaction does not exist, they don't care about the kids. The kids there are hateful, and are completely inconsiderate of others.”

“The worst school I have ever dealt with. I was left no choice but to remove my children immediately. My children in grades 1 & 4 have been to several schools in several states and I was completely thrown by the lack of respect the children received. The staff was not very knowledgeable, caring or courteous.”
