Tampa Vegetarian Restaurants
Tampa vegetarian restaurants are as varied as they are plentiful, offering international cuisines from Asian and Ethiopian to Mexican and American. Here's a list of five of the best Tampa vegetarian restaurants:
Trang Viet Cuisine
For nearly 20 years, Trang Viet Cuisine has been serving up Vietnamese and vegetarian dishes, and when Tampa diners list their favorite restaurants, this one is invariably on the list. Vegetarians and vegans alike will find plenty of dishes from which to choose, given the restaurant's four pages of meatless items. According to the restaurant's Facebook page, Trang Viet Cuisine grows its own herbs and vegetables, ensuring freshness and quality. Plus, there are delicious offerings for non-vegetarians, as well.
Queen of Sheba Ethiopian Restaurant
Because the Ethiopian Orthodox Church prescribes fasting periods twice a week, the country's cuisine does not include pork and includes a number of vegetarian dishes. And because it characteristically consists of spicy vegetable dishes, it is often a popular choice for vegetarians. Queen of Sheba carries on with the tradition. Vegetarians have numerous choices, and vegan dishes are marked with a "V."
Zom Hee Chinese
With vegetarian dishes contributing greatly to the overall menu at Zom Hee Chinese restaurant in Seminole, this longstanding restaurant is a popular choice among meat lovers and vegetarians alike. Zom Hee has been family-owned and operated since 1985 and specializes in Szechuan, Hunan and Cantonese styles of cooking. It emphasizes prserving the natural flavors and nutrition of the food it presents. In addition to a dining room with seating for some 240, the restaurant also has a cocktail lounge. The restaurant also offers a lunch buffet and early bird specials (4-6 p.m.).
Nitally's Thai Coffee House
Thai food? Mexican? Coffee? Nitally's Thai Coffee House seems to have its own cuisine, which it dubs "Thai-Mex," a blend of spicy flavors from two different cultures that come together in a winning combination. The menu is largely vegetarian, and even those dishes that do contain meat can be specially ordered to be made vegan or vegetarian.
The Loving Hut is part of an international chain of restaurants opened by followers of vegetarian guru Supreme Master Ching Hai. A mix of American and Asian cuisines, Loving Hut serves vegetarian burgers, a club sandwich with vegan bacon, vegetarian sushi and other innovative items. The restaurant is 100 percent vegan, and while it is part of a 120-store chain, each Loving Hut has a unique menu that caters to the special cuisines of a particular area or region.
