But something in me changed by the time I reached the summit â?? and didn't die. After I got to the top and started descending, I noticed that I felt different.
Instead of feeling afraid, I felt grateful. I was glad that I'd taken the risk because it taught me something about myself: Sometimes I have to risk dying â?? if I want to live.

Let's see... I was born to a very strange family from New Jersey after they relocated to Florida. I've been here my entire life aside from way too short vacations away from this godforsaken state. Updated: I've been back in Tampa, my old stomping grounds, for about a year and a half now. Lets start at the beginningâ?¦ I was born into a military family. As such, we moved all over the country until I had an epiphany and decided to drop out of high school and begin a distinguished yet short career as a â??pizza technicianâ?? at Chuck E. Cheese. Naaah, didn't go so well. So, I got my GED, joined the Army, and got out after three years to attend college and get my BA/MPA.

At last count, Iâ??ve lived in 11 states, 27 cities, two other countries, and traveled much of the world, lived in Europe, the Middle East, explored ancient ruins in Greece and Mexico, hiked mountains, volcanoes, the rain forest, recently shot the rapids in Costa Rica, and wellâ?¦ Iâ??ve been fortunate to live a pretty fun life thus far BUT thereâ??s so much yet to do!!

For the past 12 years, Iâ??ve had an awesome career working for the military as both a civilian and a Naval Reserve Officer. My need to constantly move is finally over -- Iâ??m in Tampa for good! Insofar as my job, they actually PAY me to do what I love the most: Public speaking, meeting interesting people, teaching, writing, and traveling to exciting places! I enjoy watching basketball, professional wrestling and mixed martial arts (aka "mma" or "Ultimate Fighting". Please, don't judge me based on that. Hello... I'm a musician at heart, as well as a true romantic. Both of which have been pointed out to me on multiple occasions. I've very empathic. I can look at a person and read their emotions and such. I can look at 2 people and tell their intentions, emotions and connection. God I've pissed off people with that trick. I've conditioned myself to not show emotion or thought, and as a result, I've adopted a look of permanent sadness. I'm usually very neutral in conversations, despite being very opinionated about many things.

I've noticed it's very difficult to be original when you have very little original character. Which I am. I'm an emotional sponge. It bothers me sometimes. But only sometimes.
